Choosing Fleece Sheets
Fleece sheets come in a wide variety of styles, colors, and even fabric choices.
Though most associate fleece with the wool from sheep, there are many synthetic
fibers that have been manufactured to reproduce the thick, warm piles found in
the characteristic fleece derived from wool. Polyester, acrylic, and blends have
been used to create fleece and are commonly used in fleece throw blankets,
fleece comforters and blankets, and fleece sheet. The price of fleece sheets and
bedding will depend greatly upon the type of materials used in the manufacturing
process. Organic wool fleece sheets will be on the more expensive side while
polyester fleece sheets will average on the lower end of the consumer spectrum.
There are many benefits for choosing fleece sheet and the most prevalent is that
fleece sheets are exceptional warmer and thicker than other sheets. The same is
true about fleece comforters and other blankets. During the summer months, it is
preferable to use lightweight sheets, blankets, and comforters and switch to
heavier materials during the winter. Substituting materials such as cotton for
fleece is a common practice that ensures everyone remains at a nice warm
temperature when the weather outside might be below freezing. In fact, fleece
blankets are so warm, it is recommended to keep several in your vehicle at all
times, especially for children.
Since fleece can actually be from a number of different materials, you should
always check with the manufacturer regarding the type of fleece sheets you are
purchasing. Fleece sheets are very warm and cozy and add a special touch of
comfort to those waking in the cold, winter months. Nonetheless, if you prefer
true fleece sheets that have been crafted from sheep’s wool, you will need to
ensure that you select genuine fleece sheets. If however, you are looking for
warm, cozy sheets and don’t require that the fleece is organic or genuine, then
you will be pleased with the many polyester and other synthetic blends.
